Phil Snijman is an environmental legal consultant. His fields of expertise include environmental compliance and enforcement, environmental authorisations and EIAs, fisheries, coastal management, biodiversity, protected areas, forestry, agriculture, water, mining, air quality and waste law.

Phil has also done extensive work in Eastern and Northern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands region on regional fisheries matters

Phil was the principal author of The Prosecution of Environmental Crime: A Guide for Prosecutors, a joint publication by the Department of Environmental Affairs and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.

Phil is an extraordinary lecturer to the Centre for Environmental Studies at the University of Pretoria since 2011. He is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL).
